Jordi joined the R&D department of Mediapro in Barcelona in 2008 as a recognized expert in stereoscopy. The R&D team developed from scratch the technology (Stereoscopic Image Processor) to produce real time corrected 3D content (live football matches, live concerts and even one of the world cups of surf from Peniche, Portugal). He worked as work package leader of the European Research projects 20/20 3D Media and Project FINE (volumetric video in real time) and other Spanish ones. In 2012 he moved into the Mediapro team responsible for AutomaticTV (automated live TV production using AI) and since February 2017 he is the head of XR (VR/AR/MR) at Mediapro, reporting to the Digital Transformation Manager.
He started his career in Computer Graphics in the early 90’s and joined the first course about VR in 1993, with SGI Infinite Reality Servers. He had many positions related to CGI, VFX and the Broadcast markets, and also worked for 5 years at Netscape and Sun Microsystems in Barcelona as a Service Account Manager for Strategic Accounts. He is a blogger and a serial entrepreneur, founding 5 companies (early PC sales, CG production, cinema on the internet at cine.com, e-commerce solutions, web domains and cryptocurrency related), he founded his first company when he was 20 year old. Jordi holds a BSc in Computer Science (UAB), a MA in Computer Animation Techniques (CCFP/ESCAC) and a MSc in Photonics (UPC). He is member of SIGGRAPH and attends the conference yearly since 1994.
