Crozer Health Becomes First Hospital to Utilize ThirdEye’s End-to-End Mixed Reality Smart Glasses and RespondEye Software Platform for First Responders

ThirdEye’s RespondEye Software Platform and X2 MR Glasses allow doctors and first responders to treat patients immediately, anywhere in the world, through its HIPAA-certified AR telehealth capabilities. We developed our custom augmented reality RespondEye software for first responders by working in close collaboration with Crozer Health’s paramedics and doctors, and by connecting RespondEye to EMS backend systems to display custom EMS protocols. RespondEye is cross compatible, running on ThirdEye’s X2 MR Glasses as well as iOS/Android phones, tablets and web browsers.

ThirdEye, a leader in augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) enterprise solutions, today announces its partnership with Crozer Health to bring an end-to-end mixed reality product suite to its hospital system. The new partnership marks the first time MR will be used in a healthcare setting, providing doctors immediate access to patients and assisting first responders with treatment instructions – prior to patient transportation to the hospital – as the doctors will have access to the patient’s condition via ThirdEye’s RespondEye Platform and X2 MR Glasses with its HIPAA certification.

ThirdEye developed their custom augmented reality RespondEye software for first responders by working in close collaboration with Crozer Health’s paramedics and doctors, and by connecting RespondEye to EMS backend systems to display custom EMS protocols. RespondEye is cross compatible, running on ThirdEye’s X2 MR Glasses as well as iOS/Android phones, tablets and web browsers.

“Our EMS team worked closely with ThirdEye to implement augmented reality remote assistance for frontline medics. By using augmented and mixed reality, we can enable hands-free remote assistance to enhance the care provided for our patients,” said Bruce Egan, Chief of Crozer Emergency Medical Services. “We’re continuing to collaborate with ThirdEye to keep adding new first responder specific features.”

“At ThirdEye, we tailor our software and hardware to meet the needs of those on the frontline. To have the most impact in the healthcare industry and aid in the fight against COVID-19, we obtained our HIPAA certification for the X2 MR Glasses and RespondEye platform for first responders. This ensures that patient data is securely accessed and that medics have the tools needed to succeed,” said Nick Cherukuri, CEO and Founder of ThirdEye.

Peter J. Adamo, Chief Executive Officer at Crozer Health, showed his support of the new partnership with ThirdEye by stating, “We see great potential and value in introducing ThirdEye’s augmented reality healthcare solutions to our emergency response teams with the goal of improving the overall health and safety of our communities. With telehealth technology on our side, we believe that we will begin to see further improvements in emergency patient care and better outcomes for our patients.”

The X2 MR Glasses also have a built-in thermal sensor that gives doctors the capability to complete thermal scans of patients while being hands-free, taking live temperature readings to detect elevated body temperatures.

ThirdEye Announces Razor MR Glasses, Expands into Consumer Metaverse with New Lightweight Solution with 100+ apps

Going beyond the enterprise metaverse, the Razor MR Glasses will be ThirdEye’s first foray into the consumer market, offering 100+ apps, hands-free features and a wide field of vision.

The Razor MR Glasses will be ThirdEye’s first foray into the consumer market, offering 100+ apps, hands-free features and a wide field of vision

ThirdEye, a leader in augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) solutions, today announces its first consumer mixed reality glasses - the Razor MR Glasses. Adding upon the technology that’s proven to be successful in the enterprise, ThirdEye is expanding its lineup of hardware solutions by introducing a new product directly for consumers.

With the Razor MR Glasses’ lightweight, all day wearable form factor, consumers can experience a total immersive metaverse solution. The applications available on the consumer MR glasses range from gaming and entertainment to telehealth and remote assistance. Game developers are creating multi-player metaverse apps for users wearing Razor MR Glasses, where they can view digital information overlaid onto a cityscape. Users can also watch movies or their favorite TV shows with spatial audio.

Repairs and appointments can be handled via the MR glasses as well. Consumers can use existing ThirdEye software, such as RemoteEye, to get real-time help from maintenance crews for fixing things at home or take an inventory of assets at home for insurance purposes. ThirdEye’s RespondEye platform can also be used to communicate with their doctors or caregivers remotely, allowing the remote doctor to view the patient in real time with AR annotations.

“Through the feedback we’ve received from customers since we launched in 2016, we’ve found there to be a great desire to bring our lightweight solutions and user-friendly applications, like RemoteEye, for home use as well,” said Nick Cherukuri, Founder and CEO of ThirdEye. “For the Razor MR Glasses, we wanted to accommodate a variety of needs. For example, these mixed reality glasses are lightweight and myopia friendly, allowing nearsighted users to adjust the Razor MR Glasses from zero to negative five diopters with a single twist of a knob on the side of the glasses. Now, no one will need to attempt stacking multiple eyewear pieces - as is needed with VR solutions, making it extremely comfortable for daily use.”

In addition, the Razor MR Glasses already support many metaverse applications that users can access in ThirdEye’s app store, including RemoteEye for any remote assistance aid and HIPAA-certified RespondEye for telehealth. The Razor MR Glasses feature a refresh rate of 70 Hz and two noise-canceling microphones to prevent lag and enable clear communication. The Razor MR Glasses can connect with most Android and iOS devices, including all phones that support display port (DP) output, laptops and tablets with a USB-C port, and gaming consoles through HDMI adapters.”

Foldable and lightweight at 85 grams, the Razor MR Glasses are comfortable to wear on the go or at home for extended periods of time. The glasses allow users to remain hands-free in a variety of activities, including interacting on their social media, utilizing a multi-purpose assistant, exercising with a personal trainer via a heads-up display coach, and immersing themselves in mixed reality games. The Razor MR Glasses run on the 9.0 Android operating system, boast a 43-degree field of vision (FOV) (equivalent to a 120"-inch display), and have an 8-hour battery life. Additional features for the Razor MR Glasses include voice control and a dual high-definition (HD) directional sound system.

The Razor MR Glasses have already received preorders from leading consumer and telecom companies.

The new Razor MR Glasses are currently in production and will be shipping later this year. Users can pre-order or receive more information at www.thirdeyegen.com or by contacting sales@thirdeyegen.com.

ThirdEye X2 MR Smart Glasses Now Compatible with AT&T FirstNet

Today, ThirdEye announced it is available for use on AT&T FirstNet, the nationwide, high-speed wireless broadband communications platform dedicated to America’s first responders. The ThirdEye X2 MR Glasses and RespondEye, a software platform suite that connects to EMS backend systems and enables first responders to access data on demand, now support access to the FirstNet network. This enables First Priority capabilities on FirstNet such as always on priority and preemption for first responders. Additionally, ThirdEye is HIPAA certified for both its X2 MR Glasses and RespondEye platform.

ThirdEye Now Available on FirstNet® Delivering Reliable Communications Capabilities for First Responders

Recently launched AR RespondEye Software Approved for use on FirstNet

PRINCETON, N.J., June 8, 2021 –  ThirdEye, a leader in augmented and mixed reality enterprise solutions, today announces it is available for use on FirstNet, the nationwide, high-speed wireless broadband communications platform dedicated to America’s first responders. This collaboration provides ThirdEye’s X2 MR Glasses and RespondEye software access with FirstNet. First responders can now securely and quickly obtain vital patient information through ThirdEye’s new telehealth solution.

FirstNet, built with AT&T, is a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) – an independent agency within the federal government. It’s designed with and for first responders and the public safety agencies and extended community that could be called on to support them.

The ThirdEye X2 MR Glasses and RespondEye software support access to the physically separate and dedicated FirstNet network core, which enables First Priority® capabilities on FirstNet – always-on priority and, for first responders, preemption – and the FirstNet Band 14 spectrum. FirstNet eligible customers can feel confident the X2 MR Glasses combined with FirstNet services will provide the necessary critical connectivity in a reliable, highly secure and cost-effective manner.

As part of the agreement through the FirstNet Embedded IoT Program - a program that allows for industry leading FirstNet eligible devices to be combined with FirstNet to create a bundled, end-to-end solution for a single monthly fee for first responders, public safety agencies and extended community – the ThirdEye solution will include FirstNet connectivity.

This collaboration comes after ThirdEye successfully launched its pilot programs with the Marcus Hook and Upper Merion Fire Departments in Pennsylvania. ThirdEye’s X2 MR Glasses with the RespondEye software help prevent first responders from coming in contact with potential COVID-19 patients using the attachable FLIR (forward-looking infrared) thermal sensor to detect elevated body temperatures – one of the symptoms of the disease. By using the smart glasses, medics can be hands-free and receive digital information displayed live in their field of view.

“Our telehealth software assists first responders with their everyday tasks while also equipping them with the technology to help protect them from COVID-19,” said Nick Cherukuri, CEO and founder of ThirdEye. “FirstNet provides first responders access to the high-speed and reliable connectivity when facing emergencies. We continue to update the RespondEye’s features upon requests from the EMS teams as we work toward making the implementation of AR in healthcare the new norm.”

By wearing the smart glasses, a paramedic in the field can directly contact a doctor for assistance. The doctor can then stream live video from the scene to be displayed on a computer, tablet or smartphone at the hospital via the RespondEye platform. This allows the doctor to assess a patient and make treatment recommendations without having face-to-face contact. The RespondEye software is cross-compatible and runs on ThirdEye X2 MR Glasses as well as iOS/Android phones, tablets and web browsers. The software is currently free to first responders with tiered pricing for data usage being released soon.

“We’re pleased to welcome ThirdEye as a member of our FirstNet IoT Embedded Program,” said Scott Agnew, assistant vice president, product marketing, FirstNet Program at AT&T. “This allows us to further our mission to deploy, operate, maintain, and enhance the only nationwide wireless platform dedicated to public safety and the extended community that support public safety response.”

At just 300 grams, ThirdEye’s X2 MR Glasses are the lightest mixed reality glasses on the market and are suited for comfortable, extensive wear in all conditions. The glasses run on Android 9.0 and are powered by a Snapdragon xR1 Qualcomm processor chip. ThirdEye also developed custom augmented reality first responder software via its RespondEye software platform suite, which connects to the EMS backend systems. This software combined with ThirdEye’s HIPAA certification enables first responders to access all of their data on demand and safely via the X2 MR Glasses.

ThirdEye achieved HIPAA certification for its X2 MR Glasses and RespondEye Platform, HIPAA compliance is a requirement for vendors that handle any patient medical data to ensure the security of the patient’s information as well as confidentiality.

Today, there are already a plethora of augmented reality (AR) use cases for businesses, however, bulky headsets and motion sickness have become big barriers to scaling usage. The cost of such devices has also made them unattainable for consumers since expensive computing power needs to be built into the headset.

Enter 5G. With high bandwidth and low latency, as well as the power of mobile edge computing, 5G makes it possible for AR/MR glasses to offload the majority of their workload to the edge of the network. Thanks to the reduced compute and power needs, smart glasses are about to become significantly lighter and cheaper, ultimately increasing adoption.

Consider First Responders wearing AR/MR glasses – they’ll be able to travel to a scene and have images fed to the corner of their glasses to help plan rescue actions before they arrive on-site. The glasses can also display live video feeds from drones hovering over the scene as well as street or topographical maps to help them better prepare.

At Verizon’s 5G Lab in New York City, ThirdEye, creator of the world’s smallest mixed reality glasses, recently showed off this 5G use case. The company demonstrated how its smart glasses – along with its AR/MR software – can help bring about a new era of hands-free human interaction with computing at the edge. While wearing the glasses, users such as First Responders can directly interact with surrounding objects or digital information placed in their field of view.

Additionally, field service workers (like auto mechanics) will be able to scan an object, such as a complex motor, with the glasses’ built-in camera and send images to a remote expert for help. They can then receive live audio/video guidance from the expert appearing at the top right of their smart glasses while working hands-free, instead of having to look down at a tablet or booklet to repair the part.

“5G really helps in terms of latency,” said ThirdEye’s Nick Cherukuri. “For AR smart glasses we have to stream live video or live 3D models, which can end up using a lot of data. 5G will eventually help reduce latency to under ten milliseconds, which will be a total game changer.”

For consumers, using the smart glasses over 5G will allow for more interactive and collaborative gaming experiences, as well as enhanced in-flight entertainment. Imagine being given a pair of AR glasses preloaded with HD movies when boarding a plane, then after take-off, being able to stare at the ceiling or even look out the window and see your movie presented directly in front of you in a screen size much larger than the seat-installed TV.

Stay tuned next week for another cool 5G demo from Verizon’s 5G Lab!
