Our team is pleased to announce the launch of two exciting new clinical trials in women's health at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Holistic Families Lab.
The first study, “A Virtual Reality Intervention for Stress, Resilience, and Blood Pressure Management in Black Women” (Realist Women Study; ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT06544902), aims to evaluate whether a virtual reality (VR) program can support Black women in managing stress and improving cardiovascular health. The study will assess outcomes such as sleep quality, stress levels, and the overall effectiveness of the VR intervention. Additionally, it will explore potential barriers Black women may encounter when using VR technology.

The second study, “Efficacy of a Culturally-Sensitive Telehealth Platform in Fostering Community-Based Care Coordination for Respectful Maternal Mental Health” (The Cocooned Moms Study; ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT06968650), employs a pre- and post-design to examine whether providing access to the InovCares mobile app can reduce stress, depressive symptoms, and blood pressure among expectant Black women. InovCares is a culturally tailored telehealth platform offering a maternal mental health program that includes resources addressing social determinants of health, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, compassion-focused therapy (CFT), peer-to-peer support, and gamification. The study will evaluate the impact of this intervention on reported stress, depression, sleep quality, and blood pressure in pregnant participants.
