“Prototyping the Future” will launch the VRAR Association, Phoenix Chapter - Feb 6th-8th as one million people visit the region for the NFL Super Bowl and PGA Phoenix Open. The workshop is produced by Origami Air Co and Urban Innovation Exchange Global. We are convening multiple stakeholders in a community design process towards a rapid prototype of a regional Metaverse collaboration hub for industry, citizens, researchers and creators; modeled in part on the World Economic Forum's Global Collaboration Village.

As the region tech ecosystem continues to expand, we will look at examples of economic impact and Metaverse strategies from other regions, such as Seoul & Tokyo and Dubai and how implementing converging emerging technologies (i.e. XR, AI, Blockchain, 5G, IOT, Twins) could be applicable to Mesa’s Art & Innovation District and the Greater Phoenix Region. The workshop will also explore opportunities for workforce development and industry adoption by the Valley’s leading industries; autonomous vehicles, aerospace & defense, healthcare and others supported by the VRAR Association.
The event will be based at The Studios @ Mesa City Center, which offers collaboration space for entrepreneurs and innovators located next door to ASU’s new Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center. MIX Center is part of the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts and is the new production home of the Sidney Poitier New American Film School, emerging media and XR graduate programs.
