Utah, which is ranked No. 1 in innovation and entrepreneurship, No. 2 in high-tech performance, and No. 3 in economic performance within the United States, has a thriving AR/VR community with several organizations paving the way in a variety of industries including: retail, software, healthcare, and gaming. With a state slogan like Life Elevated, Utah’s VRARA chapter lives true to elevating, enhancing and encouraging the growth and progression of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality technologies.

Chapter C0-President Amit Goyal amit@thevrara.com

Amit is the Sr VP, Software Engineering at Overstock, which has launched an AR shopping solution. Amit Goyal has been with Overstock for more than a decade, starting out his career as a senior software developer in 2006. He worked his way up to software development lead, director and then vice president before assuming his current role as senior vice president. As a software developer, Goyal worked on building out fulfillment systems before moving on to director where he managed software technology for OLabs, Overstock’s emerging business incubator. After his transition to vice president of development, Goyal was responsible for managing product technology for website and mobile.

Goyal oversees a team of more than 300 engineers leading the department in software engineering and architecture. Under his direction, Goyal’s teams have been behind the creation and implementation of technology including VR AR and machine learning. In 2017, Goyal was named as the chair to VRARA's global retail and e-commerce committee. Goyal recognizes the daily challenges and learnings of constantly evolving technology, driven by problem solving and testing experimental programs.

Goyal received his Bachelor’s of engineering from Punjab Technical University. He enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and two daughters.

Jon is the CEO and founder of Seek. Seek is often referred to as the YouTube of AR—a central, open platform where anyone can publish, share and discover augmented reality content. Seek has over 20 employees and is located in Lehi, UT. A longtime tech enthusiast and entrepreneur, Jon leads the vision and strategy of Seek. Having started several small companies and been part of the management team of other startups in the tech industry, Jon’s specialty is in business development and sales. Jon is fluent in Chinese and Spanish, and has traveled to over 30 countries. He lives in Alpine with his wife and four kids. In his free time, you will find him kayaking off a waterfall or composing songs on the piano.
