AR & The Future: Enterprises & Backrooms (Online Class)

VR/AR Association Members, contact us for a discount code to attend

education_cropped.png

Immersive technologies hold lots of potential to streamline business operations -- both corporate and "heavier," fare like manufacturing. But the opportunity hinges on professional development and education, as shown in the VR/AR Association's many webinars and symposiums.

In that same spirit, Shel Israel's Transformation Group has launched a series of live online classes. Known as AR & the Future, they will help professionals who seek to understand how immersive technology will change all business sectors. VRARA has partnered with TG, meaning discount codes for you.

The next class is coming up on November 28th. Entitled AR & The Future, Enterprises & Backrooms, it will zero in on how AR will unlock functionality and value in backroom operations.

More details are below and VRARA members can contact us to receive a discount code. We hope you'll join us on the 28th.

AR & the Future: Enterprises and Backrooms

Nov. 28, 2017 10:00 AM to 12 pm Pacific Time

Summary: Even though media attention focuses mostly on immersive technology in consumer-facing business, a great deal of the adoption and ROI is happening within enterprises and in the backrooms of retail organizations. The gains are being realized in logistics, safety, training and efficiency. Rather than zapping aliens, these applications improve profitability, morale and communication effectiveness.

Shel Israel, Transformation Group CEO & co-author of The Fourth Transformation: How Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence Will Change Everything will present an overview of how AR is changing the enterprise, where the costs and limitations of devices seem far less relevant to miners and oil rig workers than they do to shoppers and gamers.

He will explore use cases most relevant to the enterprise and backrooms of retail operations.

This session will include a guest presentation by Wolfgang Stelzle, founder and CEO of RE’FLEKT, a Munich-based startup working with Daimler, Porche, Bosch, Seepex and Microsoft. He will explain how the basic application of converting user manuals into AR-based instructions will save billions of dollars while making customers happier and more successful.

The class is designed for managers and professionals who want to use AR to bolster their companies and careers. Attendees will develop knowledge they can use to start their own AR efforts while educating and motivating others.

Join the VR/AR Association Healthcare Committee for this online event.

400+ executives, doctors, researchers and specialist have already RSVPed to attend live.

Start time is 5pm EST.

Agenda:

  • Review of existing Committee work & deliverables
  • Speakers discussing their specific work in the following order:

Challenges in Therapeutic VR Research Dr. Brandon Birckhead MD, Medical College of Wisconsin

The International VR Clinical Trial Working Group has discussed several questions and challenges in developing VR clinical trials. Most of the challenges are seen in any area of study using VR technology, but a few are unique to therapeutic research. Potential solutions will be discussed however several of the challenges have no clear solution at this time.

Personalized VR/AR for Autistic People Dr. David Trainor, Founder & Principal, Sentireal Ltd.

Autism is a spectrum condition affecting how people perceive the world and interact with others. Personalizing and tailoring VR and AR experiences to the spectrum of neurological, sensory and social differences experienced by autistic people is a considerable challenge. These challenges and some solutions provided by adopting particular VR/AR design methodologies will be presented. To aid the presentation a case study of an educational VR/AR app designed for use by autistic people will be considered.

VR in Special Needs Research & Education: Opportunities & Challenges. Dr. Ali Fardinpour, B.Sc. PE, M.Sc. ITM, PhD, Wise Realities, Founder and Director

While more clinicians and educators are learning about the affordances of immersive technologies, and study results are being published in different fields, special needs kids/adults and their families form a fraction of these studies. Although fantastic research and applications are conducted and developed in this area, however, they are disjointed, and they lack common fundamental standards. During our collaboration with a number of institutions in autism, rehabilitation and mental disabilities, we have realised that with each problem defined, some prerequisite problems need to be solved.  The primary reason for this situation is usually that the technology was not developed considering consumers with special needs. The presentation will discuss our experience in facing different opportunities and challenges to open a dialogue with researchers, clinicians and industry partners for resolving these issues.

Building Great VR AR Products Class - LA

RSVP here

DESCRIPTION

Reserve your spot at our next class of the VRARA Training Program, taught by VR/AR Product Lead and VRARA Mentor Sami Ramly. Building Great VR/AR Products: the Art of Product Management for Emerging Technologies

About the Class:
This class dives deep into Product best practices for anyone looking to make VR or AR and hoping to get people actually using their products - after the demo novelty has worn off. Topics to be covered include Product-Market Fit, Product Strategy, Product Development, Design, Prototyping, Monetization, Customer Development, Growth, Analytics, and more. All examples will be focused on VR/AR but some parallels will be drawn with adjacent industries. There will also be valuable learnings and applications for startups and companies in emerging technologies in general.

The typical audience includes (but is not restricted to) professionals who identify as makers, creatives, builders, creators and anyone involved in the product development process (entrepreneurs, executives, engineers, designers, product managers, developers, producers, directors, etc). If you're a marketer, evangelist, sales wizard or promoter of a VR/AR product, you will find it useful to learn what makes competing products great, good or bad, why your product with high traction could suffer in retention, and why the VR/AR product cemetery is full of has-beens and could-haves.

About Sami Ramly:

Sami Ramly is a VR/AR Product Lead and member of the select Product Leaders group at Product That Counts in Silicon Valley. He is currently the VR Product Management Lead at Wevr, the renowned VR startup specializing in producing and distributing award-winning VR experiences (2 out of 10 Best VR of 2016, according to TechCrunch). Sami heads the Product efforts for Transport, the native network for VR creatives and their audience. Previously, he worked in Product on 3D Printing & 3D Scanning at Microsoft, where he shipped Microsoft's first 3D Scan app for Windows 10. He also held several other roles in engineering, business and product management at Silicon Valley startups and accelerators, including StartX. Sami is a VR/AR Mentor & Faculty at VRARA, as well as a Mentor at Stanford, UCLA, USC, SIGGRAPH, LIFE, LebNet and others. He has co-authored an IEEE publication and has spoken about VR & AR at CES, Digital Hollywood, Plug & Play, Hero City, UC Berkeley, UCLA Anderson, Otis, and many VRARA events. He also sits on the Executive Board of Predictera and the Advisory Board of Rabbit Hole VR, Stanford's VR/AR maker community, featured in Business Insider as a place where “the next big thing in VR could come”.
